Get to know Psychiatrist Dr. Rasik Patel, who serves patients in Chattahoochee, Florida.

Dr. Patel is a board-certified psychiatrist, with over four decades of experience in his field. He is licensed to practice medicine in Florida, Ohio, and Michigan. 

Currently, he is affiliated with Florida State Hospital, a hospital and psychiatric hospital in Chattahoochee, Florida. Established in 1876, it was Florida’s only state mental institution until 1947. It currently has a capacity of 1,042 patients.

In 1973, Dr. Patel earned his medical degree from Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College in Jamshedpur, India. Upon relocating to the United States, he went on to complete his residency in psychiatry and his residency in pediatrics at the Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center in New York City, New York. 

Psychiatry is the medical specialty devoted to diagnosing, preventing, and treating mental disorders. These include various maladaptations related to mood, behavior, cognition, and perceptions. Psychiatrists are medical doctors that evaluate patients to determine whether their symptoms are the result of a physical illness, a combination of physical and mental ailments, or strictly psychiatric. They are qualified to assess both the mental and physical aspects of psychological problems.
