  • Does pain management prescribe opioids?

Most pain management offices are doing interventional pain management, that means treating patients with fluoroscopic guided injections and, yes, sometimes prescribing small doses of opioids if need be. Everything depends on which state you live in. It is very hard to find an office that will prescribe you only opioids. Again, everything depends on your diagnostic. There is guidance for prescribing only opioids such as with cancer, sickle cell, and chronic, painful disorders... You need to make sure that when you make the appointment you ask these questions. Finally, the answer is YES, pain management does prescribe opioids, but it depends on the patient diagnostic. READ MORE

  • How is physical therapy for children different from adults?

The PT for adults and children is very different. As for and PT (adults or children) one should have a diagnostic first. Second, training in PT and OT (occupational therapy) it is different for children in a sense that most of the conditions (diagnostics) that we treat in children, we do not find in adults. Therapy can use visual or auditory stimuli to treat a baby born with torticolis, something that we can't do in adults. We use other modalities, mostly manual in children vs let's say muscle electrical stimulation, ultrasound, etc in adults. READ MORE

Yes, it is, but do not forget that it is a mild narcotic. Also, you need to know why do you have back pain. • How do I know if I need spine surgery?

Before considering a spine surgery, you need to make sure that, first, you do know what problem you have. Second, even before thinking of spine surgery, you should make sure that you eliminated all the treatments possible for your back problem, such as physical therapy, interventional pain management, acupuncture, medication (not narcotics), even job modification. (I do know that is hard, but I try to give you options.) Hope I was helpful. READ MORE
