Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC) Memorial Hospital is proud to announce the addition of Dr. Veysel Tahan, a highly skilled gastroenterologist, to its medical team. Dr. Tahan brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in advanced procedures aimed at diagnosing and treating diseases of the digestive system, ensuring that patients in the Charleston area receive top-notch care to maintain their digestive health.

Dr. Tahan earned his Medical Degree from the prestigious Medical Faculty at Akdeniz University in Turkey. He then completed his residency in internal medicine at Istanbul University - Cerrahpaşa, where he honed his clinical skills. Following this, Dr. Tahan advanced his expertise through a fellowship in gastroenterology at Marmara University Faculty of Medicine, furthering his training with an additional fellowship at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. 

Dr. Tahan’s extensive education has equipped him with the skills necessary to address a wide range of gastrointestinal conditions, from common digestive issues to complex disorders. He holds multiple certifications, including the European Board of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, the Turkish Board of Gastroenterology, the Turkish Board of Internal Medicine, and the American Board of Internal Medicine. His commitment to professional excellence is further highlighted by his active fellowship in esteemed organizations such as the American College of Gastroenterology (Mentor), the American College of Physicians, and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, among others.

Furthermore, Dr. Tahan is a member of a number of leading associations, including the American Gastroenterological Association, the Turkish Gastroenterology Association, the Turkish Society of Gastroenterology, the Turkish Society of Liver Diseases, the Association of National European and Mediterranean Societies of Gastroenterology, and the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases. His active involvement in these organizations underscores his commitment to staying at the forefront of his field and advancing the care of his patients.

In addition to his professional qualifications, Dr. Tahan is fluent in both English and Turkish, allowing him to connect with a diverse patient population and offer culturally sensitive care.
