In his current capacity, Dr. Luo serves as a Professor of Neurology and a Professor of Pharmacology at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University. He is also an ad hoc reviewer for many peer-reviewed professional journals, a frequent contributor to neurology literature, and serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Neurology and Experimental Neuroscience.
A Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology and a Fellow of the American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine, the doctor’s research interests include neuromuscular disorders, metabolic/inherited and genetic disorders, as well as epilepsy, dementia, and degenerative disorders.
Back in the early days of his academic career, Dr. Luo earned his medical degree from the Sun Yat-sen University of Medical Sciences in Guangzhou, China in 1983. Wanting to further his education, he relocated to the United States. There, he completed his internship at New York Medical College Hospital, followed by his residency in neurology and his fellowship in clinical neurophysiology at Temple University Hospital.
Following his education, he attained board certification in neurology, clinical neurophysiology, and neuromuscular medicine by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, which is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to promoting high-quality patient care for the public through the initial and continuing certification of psychiatrists and neurologists.
Moreover, he attained board certification in electrodiagnostic medicine by the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine, which is a certifying agency that helps medical professionals attain and maintain certifications demonstrating knowledge in the field of electrodiagnostic medicine.
