Get to know Neurologist Dr. Jin Jun Luo, who serves patients in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Luo is a board-certified and fellowship-trained neurologist whose clinical interests include neuromuscular disorders, general neurology, epilepsy, as well as genetic and congenital disorders. He practices at Temple Neurosciences Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, which is a part of Temple Health.

The brain, nervous system, and spine health are the main focus at the Temple Neurosciences Center. The world-class research-driven program is led by a caring team of neurologists, neurosurgeons, and interventional neuroradiologists who deliver the latest in innovative neurological care.

In his current capacity, Dr. Luo serves as a Professor of Neurology and a Professor of Pharmacology at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University. He is also an ad hoc reviewer for many peer-reviewed professional journals, a frequent contributor to neurology literature, and serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Neurology and Experimental Neuroscience. 

A Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology and a Fellow of the American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine, the doctor’s research interests include neuromuscular disorders, metabolic/inherited and genetic disorders, as well as epilepsy, dementia, and degenerative disorders. 

Back in the early days of his academic career, Dr. Luo earned his medical degree from the Sun Yat-sen University of Medical Sciences in Guangzhou, China in 1983. Wanting to further his education, he relocated to the United States. There, he completed his internship at New York Medical College Hospital, followed by his residency in neurology and his fellowship in clinical neurophysiology at Temple University Hospital.

Following his education, he attained board certification in neurology, clinical neurophysiology, and neuromuscular medicine by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, which is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to promoting high-quality patient care for the public through the initial and continuing certification of psychiatrists and neurologists. 

Moreover, he attained board certification in electrodiagnostic medicine by the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine, which is a certifying agency that helps medical professionals attain and maintain certifications demonstrating knowledge in the field of electrodiagnostic medicine.

Neurology is a branch of medicine dealing with disorders of the nervous system. Neurologists are licensed medical specialists who diagnose and treat disorders that affect the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and muscles of patients. They examine a patient’s mental and physical status, conduct medical tests and scans, and evaluate the results to diagnose and treat the patient.
