Get to know Hematologist-Oncologist Dr. Patrick DiPaolo, who serves patients in Montclair, New Jersey.

A highly trained hematologist-oncologist, Dr. DiPaolo sees patients at his private practice in Montclair, New Jersey. He can also be found on staff at Clara Maass Medical Center, Mountainside Medical Center, and St. Mary’s General Hospital.

A native of Italy, he earned his medical degree from the Sapienza University of Rome in 1983. After relocating to the United States, he completed his fellowship in hematology at the University Hospital in 1989.

With an unwavering commitment to his specialty, the doctor is board-certified in hematology, medical oncology, and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Hematology is the branch of medicine concerned with the study of the cause, prognosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases related to blood. Oncology is a branch of medicine that deals with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. A hematologist-oncologist is a physician who specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of cancer, malignant blood diseases such as leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma, and blood disorders such as iron-deficiency anemia, clotting abnormalities, hemophilia, and sickle-cell disease.
