Recognized as Houston’s premier cosmetic dentist, Dr. Murphey is friendly, loves what he does, and aims to get things done right the first time. To help him accomplish this, he listens to his patients’ expectations and strives to accommodate each individual’s routine and restorative cosmetic dentistry needs at Woodlands Family Dental with offices throughout the state of Texas.
Woodlands Family Dental is an award-winning, full-service dental office that offers general and cosmetic dentistry, as well as implant and orthodontic services. The staff are committed to offering the best patient experience, as well as using the latest state-of-the art-technology such as 3D-CT scans, lasers, and CAD/CAM one-visit crown technology to achieve optimal outcomes.
Born and raised in the Houston area, Dr. Murphey completed his undergraduate studies in Biomedical Science at Texas A&M University, and he taught 9th grade science at Eisenhower High School before becoming a dentist.
Thereafter, he graduated with his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the University of Texas Dental Branch at Houston at the top of his class, with honors. In addition to being elected Class President, he excelled in patient relations and hand clinical skills, and was well-liked by his peers.
On a mission for continuous improvement in all endeavors in his life, Dr. Murphey holds himself to a high standard of excellence. He believes in surrounding himself with a superstar team at Woodlands Family Dental to help him be the best he can. As part of his pursuit of excellence, he has taken hundreds of hours of continuing education in such areas as cosmetic dentistry, orthodontics, implant dentistry, and sedation dentistry.
To advance his professional efforts, he remains a member of numerous dental organizations, including the American Dental Association, the Christian Dental Fellowship, the Christian Medical & Dental Associations, the Greater Houston Dental Society, the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce, the Montgomery County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the Texas A&M Alumni Association, the Texas Dental Association, the University of Texas Dental Branch Alumni Association, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and the Academy of Dentistry International.
Dentistry, also known as Dental and Oral Medicine, is a branch of medicine that consists of the study, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, disorders, and conditions of the oral cavity. Dentists diagnose and treat dental issues and help patients develop better oral hygiene regimens. They clean teeth, correct bite issues, perform surgeries and extractions, and perform other duties to ensure that the teeth and mouth are healthy.
In his personal life, Dr. Murphey enjoys driving cars at Texas World Speedway, boating on Lake Conroe, skiing, and scuba diving. He is consistently involved in a men’s Bible study, as well as has traveled to Mexico, Nicaragua, and Guatemala where he provides dental care to impoverished areas and serves hundreds of orphans. He and his wife, Crystal, have three beautiful children together; Elizabeth, Brett Aaron, and Corbin.
