Malina Styan, MPT received her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at San Diego State University in 2005 and her Master of Physical Therapy at California State University, Northridge in 2009. Since then she’s been a practicing outpatient orthopedic Physical Therapist in San Diego. Malina grew up in Hawaii, where she learned the benefits of physical activity through various sports, including tennis, swimming, running, biking, and canoe paddling. With her healing nature and desire to incorporate exercise as a form of medicine, she was drawn toward the field of physical therapy. Malina specializes in a whole-body approach to physical therapy by incorporating functional movement techniques and Pilates principles with manual techniques such as myofascial release, joint mobilizations, and muscle energy. Malina has a passion for Pilates and has been teaching it since 2009. She has been trained in SFMA (Selective Functional Movement Assessment) and incorporates this into her physical therapy treatments. When not working, she loves to enjoy life by being outside with nature and her family.
