Get to know Rheumatologist Dr. Jane Ayala, who serves the San Antonio, Texas area at her private practice, Rheumatology Associates of South Texas Dr. Ayala completed medical school at the Universidade Federal Fluminense and then continued her studies with a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in rheumatology at the UT Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas. During her residency, she was selected as a Chief Resident and Clinical Instructor and participated in multiple academic committees. She has been Board Certified in Rheumatology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Currently, Dr. Ayala serves patients at Rheumatology Associates of South Texas with one clinic at Stone Oak and one at Wiseman. Dr. Ayala was named by her peers to be one of the Super Doctors from 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 as seen in Texas Monthly Magazine. In 2013, Dr. Ayala has also received the Award of Honor by the National Institute of Medicine for the year 2013 in the specialty field of Rheumatology for Excellence. She received the 2014 Vitals Patient’s Choice Award and ensures her patients always come first throughout her practice. She has been selected as Best SA Doctors in 2017, 2018 and 2019. To stay current in her field, Dr. Ayala has become a Fellow of the American College of Rheumatology. Additionally, she speaks Spanish and English with her practice, which allows her to reach a wide range of diverse patients. She believes in treating her patients like family.
