An experienced orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Klein has expertise in arthroscopy of the knee, ankle, shoulder and wrist, as well as performs knee and hip replacement surgeries. He pioneered in the development of arthroscopic techniques and performed the first operative arthroscopy in New Jersey in 1972. He also performed one of the first knee replacement surgeries at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, where he now holds the position of Assistant Clinical Professor of Orthopedic Surgery.
His subspecialties include: sports medicine, arthroscopic procedures of the upper and lower extremities, joint replacement of the hips and knees, minimally invasive partial knee joint replacement, ligament reconstruction including the Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL), and shoulder surgery.
Growing up in Woodbridge, New Jersey, Dr. Klein graduated from Woodbridge High School and majored in Biology at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree. He went on to study medicine at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University in Philadelphia where he received his medical degree. He then completed his surgical residency at Temple University Hospital and his residency in orthopedic surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
With almost 50 years of experience in the field, the doctor is board-certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons.
A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, Dr. Klein is a member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the International Arthroscopy Association, the American College of Sports Medicine, the American Medical Association, the Middlesex County Medical Society, and the New Jersey Orthopedic Society (past President).
