  • What are the different types of inhalers, and how do they work for asthma?

I am sorry about your diagnosis but this is a very treatable disease that can be controlled well by a knowledgeable physician. This is a very complicated questions that requires a lot of time and this is not the appropriate forum to address it. There are several classes of inhalers for asthma and dep. on your presentation, history and triggers some of those may be useful and other ones not. I strongly encourage you to see a board certified allergist to go over your history, perform appropriate testing and advise you on which inhalers are indicated in your case.  best of luck  Monika Korff, MDFACAAIoffice-410-730-6000www.allergyasthmamaryland.com READ MORE

  • What are the treatment options for seasonal allergies?

There are plenty of options to treat seasonal allergies. Most of the medications are found OTC - antihistamines like Allegra, Claritin and Zyrtec, nasal sprays like Flonase, Nasacort and Astepro, allergy eye drops, etc. The choice of medication is usually lead by the type of symptoms the patient is experiencing. I would suggest a consult with an allergist to create the best combination for you.  Monika Korff, MDFACAAIoffice-410-730-6000www.allergyasthmamaryland.com READ MORE

  • How can I manage my allergies effectively?

Great question and one that can be addressed fully by visiting an allergist. • What is the strongest and most effective antihistamine?

I am sorry but there is no one answer to that. Every persons responds differently to antihistamines and what works for one may not work for another. I would suggest trying the OTC ones - Claritin, Zyrtec, Allegra, Zyrtec or Xyzal and see which works the best for you Good luck  Monika Korff, MDFACAAIoffice-410-730-6000www.allergyasthmamaryland.com READ MORE

  • Can seasonal allergies cause fever?

Some patients may feel "feverish" when experiencing active seasonal rhinitis symptoms. Low grade fever at times maybe present but dramatic elevations in temperature - above 101 degree F is unlikely to be related to allergies alone. if the fever is high or remains elevated despite medications like Tylenol or Ibuprofen would suggest seeing your PCP as you may have an infection.  Hope that helps  Monika Korff, MDFACAAIoffice-410-730-6000www.allergyasthmamaryland.com READ MORE
