Belleville, New Jersey – Meena Devalla, MD, FACOG, is making significant strides in the field of obstetrics and gynecology as Chairperson of the Department of OB/GYN at Clara Maass Medical Center, a 342-bed facility under the RWJBarnabas Health Medical Group. With over two decades of experience, Dr. Devalla is not only a board certified obstetrician-gynecologist but also a cherished member of the medical community in Bloomfield, New Jersey, where she has practiced with Special Care OB/GYN Associates, Inc. since 2001.

Dr. Devalla’s journey in medicine began in India, where she graduated with her Bachelor of Medicine, and Bachelor of Surgery Degree from Gandhi Medical College and Hospital in 1989. Following her passion for women’s health, she relocated to the United States, completing her internship at Flushing Hospital in New York in 1998. She further honed her expertise by completing her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Saint Michael’s Medical Center in Newark, New Jersey, in 2001. 

As a Diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Dr. Devalla is highly regarded for her clinical skills and commitment to excellence in patient care. She is also a proud member of the American Medical Association, an American professional association and lobbying group of physicians and medical students.

Attributing her success to the unwavering support of her staff, family, husband, and partner, Dr. Devalla emphasizes that teamwork and self-confidence are essential in delivering quality care to the community. Her dedication to her profession is matched only by her commitment to her patients, whom she considers family.

From Belleville, she guided her team and a soon-to-be mother, Keyanna Rivera, through the delivery of baby Rafael via FaceTime while in Newark. This extraordinary event showcases not only Dr. Devalla’s adaptability but also the power of connectivity in healthcare, highlighting her innovative approach to patient care. The remarkable instance encapsulates her vision of patient-centered care, proving that even in challenging situations, she will go above and beyond to support her patients and their families.
