Back in the early days of his academic career, Dr. Mehta graduated with his Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degrees from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. He then went on to earn his medical degree from the State University of New York Upstate Medical University in 2003.

Wanting to further his training, he completed his residency in internal medicine at Baylor College of Medicine. He then went on to complete his fellowships in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology at the same educational venue. 

With years of experience in his field, Dr. Mehta is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, and interventional cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. 

Licensed to practice medicine in Texas, the doctor is also board-certified in nuclear cardiology through the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology, and in echocardiography through the National Board of Echocardiography.

Interventional cardiology is the subspecialty of cardiology that deals specifically with the catheter-based treatment of heart diseases. The field includes the diagnosis and treatment of coronary artery disease, vascular disease, and acquired structural heart disease. An interventional cardiologist is a cardiologist with one to two years of additional education and training in diagnosing and treating cardiovascular disease, as well as congenital and structural heart conditions through catheter-based procedures, such as angioplasty and stenting.

Recognized and respected for his accomplishments, Dr. Mehta has been the recipient of On-Time Doctor Award (2014, 2015, 2018), Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2015, 2018), and Patients’ Choice Award (2018).
