While serving in the US Navy, Dr. Yco witnessed first-hand how reconstructive surgeries could change people’s lives, which inspired him to begin his medical career. He earned his medical degree from the University of California San Francisco School of Medicine and completed his internship at LAC+USC Medical Center.
After that, he immersed himself in an educational path focusing on internal medicine, general surgery, otolaryngology, head and neck surgeries, and facial plastic surgery. He completed his residency in general surgery at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center and his residency in otolaryngology at the United States Naval Hospital.
Subsequent to his education, the doctor attained board-certification in otolaryngology through the American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery (ABOHNS). The ABOHNS serves the public by ensuring that diplomates meet the standards of training, knowledge, and professionalism through initial and continuing certification.
Furthermore, he is board-certified through the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Inc., which was established in 1986 to improve the quality of medical and surgical treatment available to the public by examining for professional expertise in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery.
A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Yco is a proud member of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, and the San Diego County Medical Society.
