Depending on the extent of the injury - damage to one, two, or more ligaments - it can take 4 - 8 weeks to begin to walk normally again. When damaged ligaments don't heal with new ligament tissue. They heal with collegen (scar tissue) which is weaker than the original ligament. READ MORE

  • What exercises are good for a foot bunion?

Unfortunately there are no exercises that can stop or reverse bunion formation in the human foot. Bunions are structural and functional deformities that develop over time. They are not caused by shoe gear. The vast majority of bunions are the result of abnormal biomechanics of the foot overall - ie: pronation (flatfootedness). No amount of exercise can change that. Well if a patient is not immunocompromised (ie: Diabetic; Rheumatoid arthritic; Lupus erythematosis; etc.) then normal healing skin is 75% healed (based on tensile strength) within 3 weeks (21 days). For an additional 2 - 3 weeks the skin goes through a "remodeling phase" and is 100% healed within 5 - 6 weeks after surgery. READ MORE

  • Is the recovery after bunion surgery painful?

Bunion surgery is bone surgery. Depending on your pain tolerance it can be mildly to moderately painful, or it can be severely painful for 2 to 5 days. • How long does it take to fix a heel spur?

Well, using the term "fix" is a bit unusual. If you have been diagnosed with an actual heel (bone) spur, but there are no symptoms, then nothing needs to be done. However, if you have symptoms of plantar fascitis and you also have an associated heel spur then there are multiple conservative potential treatments as well as eventual surgery. The spur itself is generally not the cause of any pain. You should get a consultation with a Board Certified Podiatric Surgeon who is Board Certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery.
