After acquiring his Bachelor of Science degree at Fordham University, Dr. Gouzman attended the Ponce School of Medicine in Ponce, Puerto Rico, and received his medical degree in 1984. He then served a n internship in general surgery at Metropolitan Hospital in New York City, New York (1984 – 1985), followed by a general surgery residency (1985 – 1989) and burn surgery fellowship (1989 – 1990) at Westchester County Medical Center. He eventually completed a plastic surgery residency at the University of Oklahoma Medical College and the Lenox Hill Hospital, New York (1990 – 1992), where he served as Chief Resident in Plastic Surgery.
