  • Should I take pain medicine before dental implant?

Great question. If it will make you feel better take Tylenol before and ibuprofen afterwards. You should do great! READ MORE

  • What can I eat with the molar crown?

Great question. Avoid anything too hard, crunchy, and sticky for 24 hours past the cementation date. Afterward, anything that might break your natural teeth such as ice or opening beer bottles. If it can break your natural tooth it can break the crown. Otherwise, you should be good to go. Good luck and dental health. READ MORE

  • What is the best plaque remover?

Great question. Your hygienist is the best at this but when they are not available I prefer a Sonicare toothbrush and flossing. Good luck READ MORE

  • Is flossing more important than brushing?

That's a great question no matter what your age. They are equally important! We have a saying, "Floss the teeth you want to keep." It's important to lower your risk of decay in-between your teeth and to keep the gum healthy. Brushing properly also reduces your risk of decay and gum disease. We would like for everyone to brush 3 times per day and floss 1 time per day and work up to 3 times per day. Good luck READ MORE

  • How can I remove tooth decay myself?

Great question. I had a professor/doctor in my dental training that did his own. So, go to dental school. But I would strongly recommend seeing a dentist otherwise. READ MORE

  • Can antibiotics alone cure a tooth abscess?

Great question. NO, the cause must be removed. In this case by either sterilizing the inner aspect of the tooth or removing the tooth. Good luck READ MORE

  • Can braces damage your teeth?

Great question. No they can not. Teeth can be harmed while wearing braces but they do not directly harm the teeth. The harm comes in the form of eating what you should or not caring for your teeth during the treatment, as in brushing and flossing. Wearing braces does put you at a greater risk for decay and gum issues but with proper care and regular dental check ups this can be avoided. READ MORE

  • Can front teeth get dental crowns?

Great question. They absolutely can. It does depend upon their condition and if it is justified. Good luck. READ MORE

  • Can I get a filling without a root canal?

Great question. As long as the cavity is not too deep absolutely. Sometimes we can tell by an xray but sometimes we won't know until we remove the decay. Good luck. READ MORE

  • At what age do gums start to recede?

Great question. Gums should not recede no matter the age. This is a sign of other concerns. There are many reasons why gums can recede but age is not one of them. See a qualified dentist. Good luck. READ MORE

  • Can you fix chipped teeth?

Great question. Yes you can. Sometimes just a filling, sometimes a crown/cap. I would suggest getting your bite checked and also wear a professional mouth-guard to prevent future chipping. READ MORE

  • Can a tooth infection affect your whole body?

Great question. Simply stated, YES, in so many ways. See a dentist ASAP. Good luck. READ MORE

  • Does wearing dentures make your breath stink?

Great question. Wearing dentures does not mean you'll have bad breath. There are many reasons for Halitosis. Improper care for your dentures and mouth could be one of them. Be sure to take your dentures out at night, clean them with a mild liquid dish soap. A toothpaste can put scratches in them and food and debris stick to these scratches and yuck. Brush your gums with a soft brush and use a non-alcoholic mouthwash. Dentures are not maintenance free. Oh, and never soak a dirty denture. I hope this helps and if you're already doing these things it could be something else. See your dentist regularly and have dentures refitted if you're using any denture adhesives and get a new denture every 5-7 years. READ MORE

  • Is it okay to wait to start a root canal procedure?

Good morning, sorry to hear of the issue. Is it okay to wait? In this case, yes. I am assuming that the endodontist's schedule is such that they are getting you in a soon as their schedule permits. Please be sure to keep this appointment though. READ MORE

  • Can flossing too hard cause tooth pain?

Good afternoon. No. There is something else causing the tooth pain. Flossing just brings light a possible issue. See a dentist ASAP. READ MORE

  • Can you get two cavities on one tooth?

Good afternoon. The simple answer is absolute. A tooth has 5 exposed surfaces and each surface could develop it's own cavity. READ MORE

  • Will my root canal be canceled next month?

Good afternoon, That's a great question. I am assuming you are concerned with this Covid-19 situation. It depends upon where you live, but as far as I am aware, we are all back in action. If you were thinking of another reason why it would be canceled, I would require more specifics. I hope that helps. Best of luck, Dr. Balvich READ MORE

  • Are zirconia crowns good for front teeth?

Good morning, What a great question. The answer depends upon your individual situation like how is your bite, what caused the need for a crown, etc., but a zirconia crown is definitely a great option for a front tooth. We have used this type of restorative choice for many patients. Good luck. READ MORE
