First to experimental auto, homo, and heterotransplantation of the mitral valve in canine, Mayo Clinic, 1965. 

 125 Cardiac Transplantation in canine priorto human tranplantation program, VA Hospital, Denver 1968.

First to transplant a tissue homograph valve in a 6 year old male with Shone Cardiac Parachute Mitral Valve Disease, 1971, University of Colorado Health Science Center, Denver, CO.

First documented double organ human tranplantation (heart and kidney) that survived 3 weeks with functional organs but died of Aspergillas Brain Abscess, 1971, VA Hospital, Denver, CO

500 pre-mature infant, 60% on ventilation, having PDA Ligation without a single operative death or surgical complication, Childrens Hospital of Colorado, 1980s

First documented use of pulsatile flow (PF) cardiopulmonary bypass in patients produced by Intra-aortic Baloon Pump (IABP), VA Hospital, Denver, CO. 1974. The use of PF in patients having open heart surgery was published in Surgery, Vol. 77, pp 34-44, 1975. The study demonstrated improvement of myocardial and other vital organ functions and metabolism with a simple method of PF (IABP) during clinical cardiopulmonary bypass. 

In canine homographed mitral valve replacement treated with imunosuppression (Imuran) resulted in complication of excessive subacute bacterial endocarditis. Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN, 1963.

At the Mayo Clinic, hydrogenperoxide and catylase enzyme used to improve oxygenation in desaturated sheep. The results demonstrated improvement of oxygenation but was complicated by marked excessive water load in the animal. 1963.
