Get to know Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon Dr. Charles N. DeWild, who serves patients in Sanford, Florida.

A highly trained, board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon, Dr. DeWild specializes in tooth extractions, wisdom teeth extraction, intravenous (IV) sedation, jaw fractures and oral pathology. Licensed by the Florida Dental Board to practice medicine since 2006, he is the owner & operator of Florida Oral Surgery in Sanford, Florida.

With a gentle chair side manner, patients travel from near and far to see Dr. DeWild. He takes time with each patient and is thorough with all aspects of care. Some of the services that he offers include: wisdom teeth extraction, tooth extraction, intravenous sedation, TMJ treatment, facial trauma, oral pathology, and exposure / bracketing. He can also be found on staff at Orlando Regional Medical Center.

In regards to his educational background, Dr. DeWild did his training at the University of Florida College of Dentistry, completing his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry degree in 1998. He completed an additional year of training in a program of Advanced Education in General Dentistry, and then continued his specialty training at the University of Florida. During his six-year residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery, he also graduated with his medical degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine in 2003.

A Diplomate of the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, he is a member of the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Dental Association, the Florida Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the Florida Dental Association, the Central Florida District Dental Association, and the Dental Society of Greater Orlando.

Oral and maxillofacial surgery specializes in surgery of the face, mouth, and jaws. It is an internationally recognized surgical specialty. Oral and maxillofacial surgeons are dental specialists who treat conditions, defects, injuries, and esthetic aspects of the mouth, teeth, jaws, and face. Their training involves a four-year graduate degree in dentistry and the completion of a minimum four-year hospital surgical residency program.

With over two decades of experience, Dr. DeWild is the recipient of Patients’ Choice Award (2012, 2013, 2014) and Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015).

Outside of practicing dentistry, he enjoys traveling and loves spending time in New Smyrna Beach with his family.
