In practice for over two decades, Dr. Marx is a well-versed rheumatologist who sees patients at Rheumatology Associates of South Texas with offices in Stone Oak & Westover Hills, Texas.

Serving San Antonio for over 10 years, the physicians of Rheumatology of South Texas provide the comprehensive care patients need with the compassion they deserve. The group is comprised of six board-certified rheumatologists who are dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of rheumatic diseases including rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, lupus, gout, ankylosing spondylitis, osteoporosis, vasculitis, inflammatory muscle disease, scleroderma, and many others.

A native of San Antonio, Dr. Marx attended Trinity University where she graduated Cum Laude and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a Minor in Chemistry and Sociology in 1999. While at Trinity University, she was also inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Academic Honor Society and the Mortar Board National Honor Society. She received her medical degree in 2003 from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston where she became a John A. Hartford American Federation for Aging Research Medical Student Geriatrics Scholars Grant recipient and a Hispanic American Medical Association of Houston (HAMAH) Medical Scholars premier academic scholarship recipient. 

Thereafter, she traveled to Miami, Florida to complete her internship and residency in internal medicine at The University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital and she received the Garnet Peter Outstanding Teaching Resident Award. She remained at Jackson Memorial Hospital for her fellowship in rheumatology and then joined a rheumatology private practice group in Hallandale Beach. In 2010, she moved back to San Antonio with her husband.

Passionate about her profession, Dr. Marx is board-certified in both internal medicine and rheumatology by the American Board of Internal Medicine, a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. 

A Fellow member of the American College of Rheumatology, she is a member of the Bexar County Medical Society, the Texas Medical Association, and the International Society of Clinical Densitometry. 

Rheumatology is a branch of medicine devoted to the diagnosis and therapy of rheumatic diseases. Physicians who have undergone formal training in rheumatology are called rheumatologists. Rheumatologists treat arthritis, autoimmune diseases, pain disorders affecting joints, and osteoporosis. There are more than 200 types of these diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, gout, lupus, back pain, osteoporosis, and tendinitis.

Among her various accolades, Dr Marx has been named one of San Antonio’s Top Docs as voted by her peers in 2011 and 2013, 2014, and 2015. She was also named to the Texas Super Doctor® Rising Stars in 2012 and 2013, and to the Texas Super Doctors in 2014, 2015, and 2016 as seen in Texas Monthly magazine.

Besides caring for her patients, her other interests include cooking, fishing, lobstering, as well as spending time with her husband, her two beautiful daughters, her newborn son, and her two chocolate labrador retrievers. She is fluent in both English and Spanish.
