Back in 1971, Dr. King earned her medical degree from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. She then went on to complete her internship, residency, and fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Shortly after, she became board-certified through the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, a non-profit organization that provides board certification for practicing obstetricians and gynecologists in the United States and Canada.
Reproductive endocrinology and infertility is a surgical subspecialty of obstetrics and gynecology that trains physicians in reproductive medicine addressing hormonal functioning as it pertains to reproduction, as well as the issue of infertility. Reproductive endocrinologists are fertility/infertility specialists. They are the only doctors trained in providing fertility treatments using assisted reproductive technology such as in-vitro fertilization and egg freezing.
