Attributing his success to his hard work, Dr. Andrews is a board-certified anesthesiologist who is affiliated with DMC Harper University Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. Established in 1863, DMC Harper University Hospital is one of eight hospitals and institutes that compose the Detroit Medical Center. The hospital offers services in a broad range of clinical areas, including cardiology, neurology, neurosurgery, organ transplant, plastic surgery, general surgery, bariatric endocrinology, and sleep disorders.
After earning his Medical Degree from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine, Dr. Andrews went on to complete his residency in anesthesiology at Wayne State University . This was followed by a fellowship in critical care at Weill Cornell Medicine and a fellowship in pain management at the Cleveland Clinic.
Thereafter, he became board-certified in anesthesiology, critical care medicine, and pain medicine by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA). As the certifying body for anesthesiologists since 1938, the mission of the ABA is to advance the highest standards of the practice of anesthesiology.
Anesthesiology is the medical specialty concerned with the total perioperative care of patients before, during, and after surgery. It encompasses anesthesia, intensive care medicine, critical emergency medicine, and pain medicine. Anesthesiologists have the primary responsibility of monitoring the patient’s vital signs during surgery. In addition to basic measurements such as pulse, blood pressure and temperature, anesthesiologists also measure the patient’s respiration.
