Get to know Breast Surgeon Dr. Laurie S. Evans, who serves the population of Washington. Dr. Evans obtained her Medical Degree from the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri. After obtaining her Medical Degree Dr. Evans she completed her surgical residency in Kansas City, Missouri. She is certified by the American Board of Surgery. She is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the American Society of Breast Disease and a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons, ASBS and National Consortium of Breast Centers. Dr. Evans is a private practice Breast surgeon working at Lourdes West Pasco Breast Health Center. She is also the Medical Director of the Tri Cities Breast Program and actively participated in the Mastery of Breast Program through ASBS. The first step offered by Dr. Evans is a breast ultrasound for assessment and planning, followed by a needle biopsy which is a minimally invasive technique to withdraw cells for evaluation. There is also an ultrasound guided core biopsy for obtaining a larger quantity of tissue for pre-operative diagnosis. She offers cyst aspiration which is the draining of fluid from cysts found within the breast. She performs USG percutaneous removal of small breast lesions, as well as placement of savi/mammosite for partial breast irradiation, in which a device is placed in the breast under USG for 5 day radiation treatment. She also places BioZorb for improved postoperative radiation planning. Genetic testiis also available in her office as part of the care of the high risk patient. Most recently she has been performing Oncoplastic breast cancer surgery which is becoming more and more utilized to reduce the postoperative scarring and reduce the emotional impact to patients. It also provides wider margins oncologically and has good outcomes. Dr. Evans enjoys cycling, kayaking, gardening, boating and fishing. She also loves to make jewelry and enjoys spending time with her canine companions along the banks of the Columbia River.
