Get to know Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Ryan Naujoks, who serves patients in Middletown, Connecticut. 

Dr. Naujoks is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who specializes in hand and wrist surgery, fracture care, shoulder replacement, arthroscopic shoulder and elbow surgery, as well as Dupuytren’s contracture. In addition to being an affiliate of Middlesex Hospital, he is in practice at Orthopedic Associates of Middletown.

A 1998 graduate of Bowdoin College, he earned his Medical Degree from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine in 2004. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, where he was awarded the Butterfield Award for Excellence in Orthopedic Trauma Surgery. Thereafter, he went on to specialize in the treatment of hand and upper extremity injuries through a fellowship at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. 

In order to stay up to date in his field, he remains a member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, the Middlesex County Medical Association, the Connecticut State Medical Society, and the Connecticut Orthopedic Society.

Moreover, the doctor is board-certified in orthopedic surgery, with subspeciality in hand surgery by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons, as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons. 

Orthopedic surgery or orthopedics is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopedic surgeons use both surgical and nonsurgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders. 

Married with three children, Dr. Naujoks enjoys spending time with family, traveling, woodworking, and participating in sports.
