She moved to the US after her Medical School in Sri Lanka was bombed. Medical School in the US did not seem possible, as the financial burden was too much. She pursued nursing in the US, but was blessed to be be offered a 75% scholarship to St. George’s University School of Medicine.

Dr. Panikkar graduated with her medical degree from St. George’s University in 1993, giving her over two decades of experience in her field. After obtaining her medical degree, she completed his internship and residency with Hahnemann University Hospital and Allegheny University Hospital.

Dr. Panikkar is certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
