  • Can I fly 4 days after a root canal?

Yes! You may be having some postop pain, but by day 4 it should definitely be feeling better READ MORE

  • Can gum graft stop gum recession?

Gum grafting will repair the recession, but it won’t prevent it from occurring again. You need to stop what was causing it. Usually, it comes from bruxism (grinding your teeth). READ MORE

  • Do zirconia crowns look better than porcelain?

Zirconia is a type of porcelain. The main 3 types of porcelain crowns are zirconia, emax, and feldspathic (traditional porcelain). Those are also the order of strength from highest to lowest and the reverse order of their aesthetics as well. They are each used in different circumstances, also patient and care dependent. READ MORE

  • What happens after the abutment is placed?

Typically the abutment and crown are placed at the same time by the general dentist. They are either connected, or placed separately and crown is cemented on. I prefer connected (screw retained), if possible. READ MORE

  • How do you avoid a root canal after a filling?

Unfortunately, you personally can’t do anything to avoid getting a root canal after a filling. It depends how deep the decay was and how close to the nerve it was. That will determine if it needs a root canal or not. In the future, good oral hygiene, and regularly seeing your dentist, will help avoid root canals. Filling cavities when they are detected early on, helps prevent the need for root canals as well! READ MORE

  • Can I use an electric toothbrush on a dental bridge?

Absolutely! Electric toothbrushes are great and can be used on all teeth, crowns, bridges, veneers, implants etc. READ MORE

  • Which crown is best for implants?

Great question! It’s totally case dependent though based on your bite, area of mouth, space for the crown and aesthetics. READ MORE

  • Do electric toothbrushes loosen implants?

No!!!! if an implant crown is loose that means something else is wrong with it. Floss or brushing will not loosen any implant crown or traditional crowns or veneers. READ MORE

  • How long should I wear retainers after braces?

Hi, Typically we recommend 3-4 months full time, except when eating, but after that, it is important to wear them EVERY NIGHT FOREVER! Teeth tend to shift for the rest of your life unless you wear something to retain them. They want to go back to where they started. READ MORE

  • How do you get rid of a toothache headache?

A toothache is usually caused by an infected tooth. If this is the case, the two main treatment options are a root canal or an extraction, depending on how severely decayed the tooth is and if it can be saved or not. In the meantime, antibiotics may be prescribed, but this is only a temporary fix. READ MORE

  • Does a deep cavity require a root canal?

Hi. Great question! It depends how deep the cavity was, and how close it was to the nerve. If the decay was close to the nerve, it would have eventually become infected and needed a root canal anyway, but when prepping a cavity close to the nerve, it can essentially expedite the need for the root canal. Essentially, it would have needed a root canal anyway in the near future, but you wouldn’t haven’t know until it became infected. READ MORE

  • Can dental anesthesia be used on adults over 80?

Hi, if your grandfather needs dental work, he’ll likely just need to have local anesthesia. If he doesn’t have major underlying medical conditions, it is very safe to use local anesthetic on him. READ MORE

  • Does root canal infection show up on an x-ray?

Not always, but many times it does. Most times, we diagnose an infected tooth by means of various different tests. One is a cold test, and this tells a lot about the vitality if the tooth. READ MORE

Dr. Schwartz was great! It was my first visit with him and he was very informative, and the appointment was totally painless. I broke a tooth and need a crown, he said he's able to do it in one visit.
