Dr. Karissa C. Hammer, MD, is a reproductive endocrinology & infertility physician at the Institute for Human Reproduction (IHR), which is a member of Pinnacle Fertility, Chicago, Illinois. She brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to providing exceptional care to individuals and couples embarking on their reproductive journey.

Alongside the IHR physician team, Dr. Hammer provides comprehensive fertility services, including: fertility evaluation, diagnostic testing, and semen analysis, hysterosalpingogram (HSG), intrauterine insemination (IUI), in vitro fertilization (IVF), donor sperm, donor egg, gestational surrogacy, embryo donation and adoption, genetic testing, fertility preservation and egg freezing, and LGBTQ+ family building. Her favorite aspect of being a physician is the relationships she cultivates with her patients and care teams.

Boasting an impressive academic background, Dr. Hammer obtained her Bachelor’s Degree from Vanderbilt University before pursuing her medical education at Rush Medical College. She completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Rush University Medical Center and further specialized in reproductive endocrinology & infertility with a fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital.

As a Diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Hammer is recognized for her outstanding clinical expertise and commitment to excellence. Her professional affiliations with esteemed organizations such as the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists, and the American Medical Association underscore her dedication to staying at the forefront of advancements in the field.

Dr. Hammer’s contributions to research are equally noteworthy, with 15 scientific publications and book chapters to her name. Her research interests, including the impact of Anti-Mullerian hormone on IVF outcomes and innovative approaches to medical education in reproductive endocrinology, demonstrate her commitment to advancing the field.

Notably, Dr. Hammer is one of the inaugural Surgical Scholars within the Society of Reproductive Surgeons and a pioneer in minimally invasive surgical techniques aimed at preserving and enhancing fertility. Her accolades for clinical skill and research excellence during her tenure at Harvard further underscore her status as a leader in the field of reproductive medicine.
