Get to know Dermatologist Dr. Deborah Zell, who serves patients throughout the State of Arizona.
A board-certified and fellowship-trained dermatologist, Dr. Zell joined US Dermatology Partners, formerly Beatrice Keller Clinic Dermatology, in 2015 and specializes in Mohs micrographic surgery and procedural dermatology.
US Dermatology Partners is one of the largest dermatology practices in the country, caring for more than 1.5 million patients each year with nearly 90 locations across eight states including Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Maryland, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, and Virginia. Their patients not only have access to general medical, surgical, and cosmetic skin treatments through its coordinated care network, but also benefit from the practice’s strong dermatology subspecialty thought leaders and medical advisory board.
Academically, Dr. Zell has a double major in Mathematics and Chemistry that she earned from Tulane University with the Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude honors. She also earned the prestigious President’s Award and served as Undergraduate Student Body President. She graduated with her medical degree at the Tulane University School of Medicine, after which she served her internship in New Orleans at Charity Hospital, University Hospital, Tulane University Medical Center and the Veterans Affairs Hospital.
Subsequently, she completed her residency in dermatology at the University of Miami where she also served as a clinical research fellow in the Department of Dermatology. While there, she initiated, managed and conducted fourteen clinical trials focusing primarily on scarring and keloids, and earned the Surgical Award and the Kramer Research Award two years in a row.
Finally, Dr. Zell went on to earn the coveted Mohs Micrographic Surgery Fellowship under the guidance of Dr. Daniel Siegel in New York, where she also performed surgery at the State University of New York (SUNY) – Downstate, the Veterans Affairs Harbor Hospital in Brooklyn and in private practice.
Distinguished as a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology (FAAD), the doctor is board-certified in dermatology by the American Board of Dermatology, which is a voluntary, non-profit, private, autonomous organization formed for the primary purpose of protecting the public interest by establishing and maintaining high standards of training, education, and qualifications of physicians rendering care in dermatology.
Among her professional affiliations, she is an active member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, the American College of Mohs Surgery, and the Women’s Dermatologic Society. She has appeared as a lecturer at SUNY Downstate, authored numerous dermatologic articles and textbook chapters, and often serves as a peer reviewer for her fellow medical authors.
