How do you relieve pain after a tonsillectomy?
Tonsillectomy is painful. Prescription for Acetaminophen in syrup can be obtained from your pediatrician. At least 500mg every 4 hours if weight allows it, should help. Also eating cold food like jello may help. Eating ice and local external ice can add some benefits. No opiates should be given. READ MORE
How do you relieve pain from varicocele?
Varicocele is a painful condition secondary to swelling of the veins of the testicles. It is diagnosed by the primary doctor and requires most of the time a surgical solution performed by the urologist. If pain persists after surgery, the genitofemoral nerve can be blocked and then do neurolysis with cryoablation. This provides relief. Unfortunately, it is temporary, 4-6 months because nerves grow back and pain returns. The good part is that it can be repeated once the pain comes back. READ MORE

How do you manage pain while waiting for a root canal?
This pain is caused by inflammation and therefore the best is to take something like Ibuprofen 800mg 3 times a day with food until the root canal is done. Ice can help. Nerve pain also responds to Gabapentin which requires a prescription. Stop the Ibuprofen if you develop gastric pain while taking this high dose to attack both inflammation and pain. Not everybody develops gastritis. READ MORE
How do you deal with contact lens pain?
I honestly do not have an answer for this question. I would ask the ophthalmologist or the optician, or use soft ones, or just use regular lenses. I particularly, would not be able to tolerate contact lenses myself because I feel my eyes are very sensitive and the presence of a foreign object would make me go crazy from the discomfort. Should I get a chiropractic adjustment if my back hurts?
See your primary doctor first. He should be able to recommend you the next step. If you are young, it will probably resolve by itself in a couple of weeks. If you are somewhat older, arthritis of the spine may be stalking you with degeneration of discs or similar problems and/or sacroiliac joint disfunction. Do not let a chiropractor manipulate your back until you are sure there is no disc pathology that may worsen during a forced chiropractor maneuver for an adjustment. Follow an algorithm. READ MORE
How do I get my sciatic nerve to stop hurting?
Sciatic pain is pain radiated down the lower extremity caused possibly by a disc herniation, a spur from degenerative arthrosis pushing on the nerve now at a critical point, spasm of the piriformis muscle and also sometimes associated to sacroiliac joint disfunction or narrowing of the spinal canal. Each condition has a treatment including spine surgery if necessary with quite good success if the pain is mainly the leg. You can see a pain physician. I think he or she can be the best option to guide the process, diagnostically and therapeutically. READ MORE
