Get to know Wound & Burn Care Specialist Dr. Norris Kent Burton, who serves patients in Tifton, Georgia.

With over 40 years of experience, Dr. Burton is a wound & hyperbaric medicine specialist serving as the Medical Director of Tift Regional Wound Care and Hyperbaric Clinic in Tifton, Georgia.

Tift Regional Wound Care and Hyperbaric Clinic, which serves more than 10 counties in South Georgia, offers treatment for: diabetic foot ulcers; chronic non-healing wounds, surgical wounds; infected wounds; venous ulcers; arterial/ischemic ulcers; compromised flaps or grafts; late effects of radiation (radiation cystitis, proctitis, or external wounds); pressure ulcers; ostomy care; traumatic wounds; and crush injuries.

A 1987 graduate of the Medical College of Georgia, Dr. Burton went on to perform his residency in family medicine at the said establishment. He completed his training from 1987 until 1989.  He is also certified as Physician Wound Care Specialist, Vascular Technologist and is a  Registered Physical Therapist.  He is a Fellow in the Academy Of Physicians In Wound Care and a Diplomate of the American Academy of Wound Management.  He has taken part in foreign medical missions to both Hungary and Peru.

Wound healing is a complex process in which the skin, and the tissues under it, repair themselves after injury. Wound specialists are healthcare professionals who have been trained in the care and treatment of all types of wounds - acute and chronic. Among the most commonly treated wounds are those sustained from an acute injury, surgical wounds, diabetic wounds, and pressure sores.

As a testament to his success, Dr. Burton received the Patients’ Choice Award in 2015.  He also received the Exceptional Physician award at Tift Regional Medical Center in 2012 and served as Chief of Staff from 2014-2015.
