I think I'm dealing with atonic seizures
Your primary care physician can order an ambulatory EEG. Take video of your spells. That way the neurologist has all the information needed. Its possible that you have a muscle disease or a sleep disorder such as narcolepsy triggering the head drop. If you are falling asleep, even briefly with the head nods then you also need a specialized sleep study called MSLT. Again your PCP can order that ahead of your appointment. Hope this helps READ MORE
Why does my son get sporadic migraines?
Migraine headaches are typically hereditary. The cause of migraines is not completely understood, but the theory is that there is a hypersensitivity to certain environmental triggers that causes inflammation of the blood vessels in the tissues surrounding the brain. It’s almost like an allergic reaction in the brain. Common triggers include certain foods, smells, bright sunlight, stress, oversleeping, not enough sleep, too much caffeine, stress, and hormones. Often in children, eating foods containing nitrites will trigger a migraine. Nitrites are found in bottled dressings and dips(ranch dressing) , pepperoni, deli meats and hotdogs. Nitrite free versions of these foods are now available. A regular sleep schedule and avoiding energy drinks and caffeinated sodas can also help. There are great medications available for migraines, and even some herbal supplements that can help. Talk to his doctor about treatment options. READ MORE

Do MRIs explain why some people have vertigo?
Unless the vertigo is due to a structural lesion in the brain, an MRI can’t explain vertigo. Vestibular and balance testing can assess for labyrinthine causes of vertigo. But many people have dizziness due to migraine headaches, and there is not really a test for that. Start with an ENT who specializes in balance and if the ear is ok, then see a neurologist. READ MORE
Can head trauma cause blurred vision?
Blurred vision is a common symptom following head injury, and can be a symptom of a concussion. Often, a blow to the head can trigger a migraine-like headache that includes nausea, light and noise sensitivity and blurry or watery vision. If there are flashes or floaters in one eye, you may have injured the retina or vitreous in your eye, and need to see an eye doctor immediately. If you have double vision or if one pupil is larger than the other one, seek emergency medical care immediately. READ MORE
