  • How long do dentures last?

Well it depends. The denture will and can last but some periodic maintenance like relines will be required. That will depend on when your teeth came out. Also diet, weight gain or loss, wear and tear, medical conditions and any accidents like breakage or cracking. Best of luck with them. If you find ability to chew is inadequate consider adding implants Best Dr Ted Dr. Ted's iPhone READ MORE

  • Do dentists shave teeth after Invisalign?

Hello, and thank you for the question. Not sure what you mean by shave teeth" After invisalign to provide a more balanced bite, sometimes we do selective recontouring. The amount of tooth removed is extremely minimal, thousandths of a millimeter. We are adjusting an inert part of the tooth, the enamel. Teeth often have several millimeters of thickness in the areas we adjust. This will not create sensitivity, but an improper bite can create sensitivity. This will not make your tooth more prone to decay or breakdown. Bite equilibration is a normal and common finishing technique to stabilize the final bite after any orthodontics, be it traditional braces or Invisalign. READ MORE

  • How long does a tooth last after a root canal?

This really depends on a lot of factors. By and large, root canals can be very successful, about 95% of the time the tooth will have considerable longevity. 10 years or more is a successful root canal. Some can last 4 or 5 decades. 5% of root canals do fail. They fail due tooth or root fracture, or recurrent decay from poor home care. Root fracture is not treatable. Short of good home care and being certain to crown the tooth that has a root canal in a timely fashion, there is nothing you can do to prevent that from happening. So there is that unpredictability to one in twenty teeth that have a root canal. Speak to your dentist, they may be able to give you a relative risk assessment of the tooth and a prognosis for the outcome. Best, Dr. Ted READ MORE

  • Can you fix a broken denture?

Dentures most often can be repaired by a dentist or dental laboratory. It may depend on how it fractured. Beyond that, a dentist should help determine why it fractured. Perhaps it is time for a reline, or the denture is ill fitting, or the bite needs correction. BTW saliva will dissolve superglue, so that will not work. Good Luck! READ MORE
