Get to know Hematologist-Oncologist Dr. LiHong Wei, who serves patients in Fresh Meadows, New York.

Recognized as a well-versed hematologist-oncologist, Dr. Wei has more than 20 years of experience in pharmacology and cancer research and over 10 years of experience in hematology / oncology. She is in practice with Queens Medical Associates in Fresh Meadows, New York.

Following the completion of her medical degree from Shandong University School of Medicine in 1983, Dr. Wei relocated to the United States to further her training. She completed her residency in internal medicine at NYU Langone Hospital Brooklyn, followed by her fellowship in hematology-oncology at Mount Sinai School of Medicine.

Subsequent to her education, the doctor earned board certification in internal medicine, hematology, and medical oncology through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

In her current capacity, Dr. Wei remains affiliated with several medical centers and hospitals, including Long Island Jewish Forest Hills, Long Island Jewish Medical Center, North Shore University Hospital, Northwell Health Cancer Institute, and NewYork–Presbyterian Queens.

Throughout her fruitful career, she has received several international honors and awards for published research in oncology, pharmacology, and human physiology.

Hematology is the branch of medicine concerned with the study of the cause, prognosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases related to blood. Oncology is a branch of medicine that deals with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. A hematologist-oncologist is a physician who specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of blood diseases and cancers such as iron-deficiency anemia, hemophilia, sickle-cell disease, leukemia, and lymphoma.
