After graduating with his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine in 2001, Dr. Costa went on to further his training. He performed his residency in internal medicine and his fellowship in gastroenterology at Stony Brook University Hospital in New York in 2004 and 2008, respectively. 

Following his education, he attained board certification in gastroenterology through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

In his professional experience, Dr. Costa is affiliated with Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and Saint Peter’s University Hospital.

Gastroenterology is the branch of medicine focused on the digestive system and its disorders. A gastroenterologist is a physician who has extensive training in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders related to the esophagus, stomach, small intestines, colon, liver, pancreas, and biliary system.
