- Simply because I love what I do and don't think of my job as work. I have worked very hard at creating a program with my office, physical therapy and surgical center to provide comprehensive care for each patient.

Dr. Perkins’ father, a member of the Michigan High School Athletic Association and Coaches Hall of Fame, played a pivotal role in shaping his athletic journey. Thanks to his guidance, Dr. Perkins and several of his siblings earned college scholarships for baseball and football. During his time at Oakland University, Dr. Perkins achieved notable distinctions, including All-State, All-Region, and 1st Team Academic All-American Honors in baseball. He was also honored as one of the baseball team’s first recipients of Oakland University’s “Outstanding Alumnus” Award.
After earning his Degree from Oakland University, Dr. Perkins pursued his medical education at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his internship and orthopedic residency through MSU at McLaren Regional Medical Center-Macomb. He further enriched his expertise with an additional year of sub-specialty training at Michigan State University, focusing on advanced arthroscopic surgery and sports medicine. During this period, he served as a team physician for Spartans Athletics, various local high school teams, the Chicago Cubs organization’s minor league baseball team, “Lansing Lug-nuts,” and the Capital Centre Pride of the North American Junior hockey league.
With a source of knowledge and insight, Dr. Perkins is board certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery (AOBOS). The AOBOS is an organization that provides board certification to qualified Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine who specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of disorders of the musculoskeletal system.
Maintaining a commitment to ongoing education, Dr. Perkins holds the distinction of being a Fellow of the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics (FAOAO) and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (FAAOS).
