What treatment is best for a disc hernia?
Spinal disc herniations are one of the most common spine (neck and back) pain generators seen in practice. Treatments range from formal physical therapy and chiropractic care, epidural steroid injections, and surgery. However, all of these options have short comings. My practice focuses specifically on the evaluation and management of disc herniations and discogenic type injuries. My approach consists of Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression therapy. This gently, FDA cleared treatment utilizes advanced equipment to provide a low force, controlled load and unload cycle on the affected spinal disc. This creates a negative pressure within the disc, allowing disc material that has displaced (herniated vs. bulge) to slowly recede back into position. What does this mean for the patient? Pain relief, reduced compression on the affected nerve, and lasting relief. This procedure when performed with a physician of high clinical expertise and the appropriate table (NOT TRACTION), patients can expect over an 80% success rate. I hope this helps! If you are in the Youngstown Ohio area, I provide free initial consultations to evaluate the specific injury and case in question, and determine if I can help or not. READ MORE
Can you help with a muscle strain in my shoulder?
The short answer is YES. However, every case and symptomatic presentation is different. A simple strain injury should be effectively managed in my clinic with an approx 2-6 week time of healing. We utilize the best in non-surgical, non-pharmaceutical management of many conditions, including shoulder strains. Specifically, we use a robotic MLS Class 4 Laser. This decreases inflammation/pain and greatly expedites healing. We couple this with the appropriate rehab and manual therapies, which further enhances and expedites healing. I hope this helps! If you are located in the Youngstown, OH area, I offer free initial consultations to see if I can help. READ MORE
How often should you see your chiropractor for back pain?
This is a loaded question. What I can tell you is every case is different. What I can also tell you is that if anyone tells you a specific number of treatments with absolute certainty, you're getting taken for a ride. My approach, and ALL approaches for that matter, should be entirely patient-centered. Meaning, customized and tailored to the specific individual and condition in question. So, to more specifically answer this questions, we first need to determine an accurate diagnosis as to WHY you are experiencing back pain. You could have a displaced (herniated, bulge, protruded) spinal disc, a sprain/strain, facetogenic (spinal joint) pain, sacroiliac joint dysfunction, or something more sinister (most likely not, however certainly possible). Once an accurate diagnosis has been formed, then specific treatment recommendations can be made. There is no "one size fits all" approach, unfortunately. My best recommendation, get evaluated by a skilled professional to determine the actual cause of why your back hurts. Then we can talk about recovery times, short and long term management, and actual visit frequency and duration. I know this was non-specific, but I do hope this provides some help! If you're in the Youngstown, OH area, I provide free initial consultations to see how best I can help. READ MORE
Can you treat sciatica?
Yes, in fact I treat "sciatica" every single day in practice. However, sciatica is actually a symptom. It is not a true diagnosis and is misused from medical providers daily. The underlying cause of this symptom is most commonly a displaced lumbar disc (herniation, bulge, protrusion). Material inside the disc migrates (displaces) out of it's normal interior position, created compression on an exiting lumbar nerve. The nerves of your lumbar spine control all function of your legs. This includes sensation (pain, numbness/tingling) and motor (strength, ability to walk, ability to use legs). My approach is accurately diagnosing which disc is the likely problem, then providing Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression therapy to resolve the problem. I also implement MLS Class 4 Robotic Laser Therapy, traditional physical and chiropractic therapies to assist in pain reduction and functional improvement. I hope this helps! If you're located in the Youngstown, OH area, I offer free initial consultations to review your specific problem and determine how best I can help. READ MORE
Pubic bone
Well, that is unfortunate. Your doctor, in fact ANY doctor, should always explain exactly what is being performed and gain the patient's consent to actually perform. I have no idea of your condition or complaint, so I cannot speak as to why your pubic bone was in question. Now, what I can tell you, is the pubic bone is a pain generator in some females. Most commonly, during pregnancy. My specific specialty is not obstetrics, but I have taken care of many pregnant ladies throughout my 13 year career (my wife included, two pregnancies). I hope this helps! READ MORE
