Shands Lake Shore Regional Medical Center is a 99-bed acute care hospital that provides a wide range of health care programs. These programs include but are not limited to cardiology, obstetrics, orthopaedics, pediatrics, physical therapy, radiology, and surgery. The hospital brings together a health care team that reflects its commitment to compassion and excellence in patient care.

The doctor’s acclaimed career in medicine began after he earned his medical degree from the  Universidad Central del Caribe in Puerto Rico in 1981. He then went on to complete his residency in general surgery at San Juan City Hospital. 

A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, he is board-certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery, which is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.

During his 34 years in surgery, he has performed over 10 thousand laparoscopic cases for gallbladder, hernias, bowel resections and others including robotic surgery. Other major surgeries performed include breast major and minimal surgery, thyroid, skin and soft tissue tumors, and colonoscopies.

A general surgeon performs a wide range of abdominal surgeries for many forms of intestinal and abdominal wall neoplasms, gallbladder disease, gastric and pancreatic disease.
