Get to know Cardiac Electrophysiologist Dr. Adarsh Bhan, who serves the population of Illinois. Dr. Bhan graduated with his Medical Degree from the University of Indore in India, he then completed his internship at the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College and residency with the Jawaharlal Institute Of Postgraduate Medical Education And Research. He then relocated to the United States where he completed an additional residency with the Advocate Christ Medical Center. Wanting to further his training, he then completed his Cardiovascular Disease fellowship with the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago and a Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship with the Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center. Dr. Bhan is tri-certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. To Stay up to date in his field, Dr. Bhan has been inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. Dr. Bhan currently practices as a Cardiac Electrophysiologist with Advocate Heart Institute and MidAmerica Cardiovascular Consultation, he is also affiliated with Advocate Christ Medical Center, Advocate Medical Group, Advocate South Suburban Hospital, Advocate Trinity Hospital, Franciscan Health Chicago Heights, and Franciscan Health Olympia Fields. He holds an expertise in Atrial Fibrillation, Complex Ablations, Device Therapy, and Ventricular Arrhythmias. A clinical cardiac electrophysiologist, or cardiac EP, is a doctor who treats rhythm problems of the heart. A cardiac EP is a type of cardiologist. Cardiac EPs test for, diagnose, and treat abnormal heart rhythms. Abnormal heart rhythms are called arrhythmias. EPs need to know about how the heart works, what kind of arrhythmias there are, and what may cause them. They also know how to do different kinds of tests. They know how to implant special devices in the body to regulate heartbeat. And they can prescribe medicine, lifestyle changes, and make other recommendations. They often work in a cardiac care unit, emergency room, or intensive care unit.
