Dr. Hopkin was raised in Morgan, Utah, as one of four boys and one girl. His interest in oral surgery was fostered through his mother who worked for an oral surgeon, the same oral surgeon who Dr. Hopkin later bought his practice from in 2011.
Dr. Hopkin’s oral surgery practice treats patients from Salt Lake City, UT, to as far as Kansas for a wide variety of procedures, ranging from dental implant placement to wisdom tooth extractions and TMJ treatment. Hopkin Oral Surgery is proud to support area high schools, including Olympus, Skyline, Murray, Brighton, Cottonwood and Hillcrest.
In addition to English, Dr. Hopkin speaks Portuguese and Spanish. This knowledge allows him to be able to easily communicate with those from Latino and Hispanic communities, creating a comfortable environment and easing the burdens that come with language barriers. With the assistance of his friendly and knowledgeable staff, he provides patients with exceptional levels of care.
Dr. Hopkin received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Iowa, where he received awards for dental research and contributed to a number of dental publications regarding oral cancer. He then went on to complete his residency in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the Indiana University of Dentistry. The intensive training that Dr. Hopkin received in his residency allows him to specialize in procedures like dental implant placement, TMJ disorders, oral pathology and tooth extractions.
Dr. Hopkin has participated in the Give Kids a Smile Day program. This nationwide program has provided more than five million children in need with no-cost oral health services. On a broader spectrum, Dr. Hopkin has traveled to both Brazil and Costa Rica for mission and service trips in those regions.
Dr. Hopkin has been awarded and recognized for his achievements in Dental Histology, Dental Anatomy, and Oral Pathology. In 2013, he received his diploma from the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. This elevates him to board-certified status, which means that the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery has recognized Dr. Hopkin as a trusted surgeon with the highest standard of care.
