Moreover, he went on to complete a rigorous residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Tennessee in Memphis.

Recognized as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Shell is board-certified in plastic surgery by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS). The mission of the ABPS is to promote safe, ethical, efficacious plastic surgery to the public by maintaining high standards for the education, examination, certification, and continuous certification of plastic surgeons as specialists and subspecialists.

In recognition of his outstanding dedication and commitment to his field, he was awarded the prestigious “Outstanding Resident Award” in 1981 by the Southeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons. This accolade demonstrated the talent and commitment to the art and science of plastic surgery.
