In 1969, Dr. Dengrove received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Science from Rutgers University. He then went to the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark, New Jersey, and obtained his medical degree in 1974. Following a transitional year at Monmouth, Medical Center in Long Branch, New Jersey, Dr. Dengrove completed two years of his psychiatry residency at Johns Hopkins Medicine’s Henry Phipps Psychiatric Clinic in Baltimore, Maryland (1975-1977). He conducted his final year of residency in psychiatry at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (1977-1978). Furthermore, he completed advanced training in forensic psychiatry at NYU/Bellevue Hospital.
Dr. Dengrobe became board-certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in 1980. In 1990, he attained his board-certification in forensic psychiatry from the same certifying body. The American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Inc. (ABPN) is a nonprofit corporation that was founded in 1934 as a method of identifying the qualified specialists in psychiatry and neurology. The ABPN is one of 24 member boards of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS).
