A devoted psychiatrist, Dr. Wheeler is the Founder of Madison Psychiatry LLC in Madison, Indiana. She has 35+ years of experience in treating a broad range of mental and neuropsychiatric disorders in adults of all ages. She provides comprehensive evaluation & excellent treatment that includes psychotherapy and psychopharmacology with a high level of personalized care that is tailored to individual needs. 

Prior to her current endeavor, she served as staff psychiatrist at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper, IN, and as staff psychiatrist for the Geriatric Psychiatry and Adult Psychiatry Units at the Madison State Hospital, Madison, IN. (August 2007 – January 2013).

In the earlier years of her academic career, Dr. Wheeler graduated with her medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine in 1978. She then went on to perform her medical internship, residency in psychiatry, and fellowship in geriatric psychiatry at the University of Cincinnati School of Medicine, completing her training in 1984. She stayed on at the educational venue, serving as an Assistant Professor until 1989 and returning to academic psychiatry as Associate Professor in 2004. Dr. Wheeler’s interest in the areas of psychotherapy and psychopharmacology inspired her to work in private, military and community psychiatric hospitals, and later, in medical centers in the Midwest to perfect her skills in these areas of psychiatry.  A Life Member of the American Psychiatric Association, Dr. Wheeler is an active member of the Indiana Psychiatric Society and the American Association of Community Psychiatrists.

Drastically changing patients’ lives due to her diagnostic abilities and treatments, Dr. Wheeler was named the Most Outstanding Psychiatrist in Indiana for Mental Health and Addiction by Mental Health America of Indianapolis (2012); was honored in Who’s Who in American Women (1984) and Who’s Who in the Midwest for Outstanding Contributions to Medicine and Humanitarianism (1985); and was awarded the Upjohn Award for Clinical Excellence and Applied Personal Qualities at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine (1979).
