Get to know Glaucoma Specialist Dr. Alana L. Grajewski, who serves patients in Miami, Florida.
Dr. Grajewski has been a leader in the international effort to eradicate blindness from pediatric glaucoma for more than two decades. She established the Samuel & Ethel Balkan International Pediatric Glaucoma Center at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, the first integrated services center dedicated to pediatric glaucoma and anterior segment dysgenesis. An expert in the specialized surgical treatment, her influence has been felt worldwide through patient care and education.
Bascom Palmer Eye Institute serves as the Department of Ophthalmology for the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in Miami, Florida. Their mission is to enhance the quality of life by improving sight, preventing blindness, and advancing ophthalmic knowledge through compassionate patient care and innovative research.
Back in 1983, Dr. Grajewski graduated with her medical degree from the Chicago Medical School. She completed her internship at the UCLA School of Medicine in 1984, and her residency in ophthalmology at Wills Eye Hospital in 1987. Finally, she completed her fellowship in pediatric glaucoma at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in 1989.
