Get to know Pulmonologist Dr. Ashish Prakash Maskey, who serves patients in Lexington, Kentucky.

At present, he serves as the Director of Bronchoscopy and Interventional Pulmonology at UK HealthCare’s Markey Cancer Center, which is Kentucky’s only National Cancer Institute designated cancer center. Additionally, he is affiliated with Kentucky Clinic and UK Good Samaritan Hospital, both located in Lexington.
In collaboration with a multidisciplinary team comprising oncologists, radiation oncologists, and thoracic surgeons at UK HealthCare, Dr. Maskey employs minimally invasive techniques such as endobronchial ultrasound and electromagnetic navigation bronchoscopy for the diagnosis of lung nodules and staging of lung cancer. His scope of procedures also includes rigid bronchoscopy, laser and electrocautery treatments, argon and cryotherapy for airway narrowing/obstruction, Denver drains, pleurodesis, medical thoracoscopy, as well as the management of pleural diseases and tracheostomy tubes.
Educated in Bangladesh, Dr. Maskey graduated with his Medical Degree from Chittagong Medical College. Upon relocating to the United States, he completed a residency in internal medicine at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York, followed by a fellowship in pulmonology and critical care at the Cleveland Clinic. He then received an additional year of training in interventional pulmonology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, a teaching hospital for Harvard Medical School in Boston.
Dedicated to clinical excellence, the doctor is board certified in critical care medicine and pulmonary disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
