Get to know Hematologist-Oncologist Dr. Michael S. Roberts, who serves patients throughout the State of Arizona.

A board-certified hematologist-oncologist, Dr. Roberts is affiliated with Arizona Oncology, working with patients at their offices in Phoenix, and Scottsdale, Arizona. He provides advanced high-quality compassionate cancer care in a community setting. He has a special interest in treating patients with lung, breast, colon, prostate, and hematologic malignancies.

Arizona Oncology is one of the largest cancer centers in Arizona. With more than 70 physicians devoted exclusively to providing comprehensive, compassionate and high-quality cancer care, Arizona Oncology specializes in: medical oncology, gynecologic oncology, radiation oncology hematology, bone marrow transplant, clinical trials, genetic risk assessment, patient ancillary programs, and breast surgical oncology.

Completing his undergraduate education at Johns Hopkins University, Dr. Roberts graduated with his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine. He then went on to complete his internship at the Baylor College of Medicine Affiliated Hospitals, his residency at the Mount Sinai Hospital, and his fellowship at Montefiore Medical Center – Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

As a testament to his success, the doctor is board-certified in hematology and medical oncology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

To boot, he is certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners as an Individual Investigator.

To advance his professional efforts, Dr. Roberts is an active member of the American College of Physicians, the American Society of Internal Medicine, the American Society of Clinical Oncologists, and has been recognized by the Leukemia Lymphoma Society, and the American Society of Clinical Oncology.

In his professional experience, he was a founding member of the Arizona Institute of Breast Health as well as the Center for Thoracic Disease. He also serves as Vice-Chair of Medicine at St. Joseph’s Hospital & Medical Center.

Hematology is the branch of medicine concerned with the study of the cause, prognosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases related to blood. Oncology is a branch of medicine that deals with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. A hematologist-oncologist is a physician who specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of cancer, malignant blood diseases such as leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma, and blood disorders such as iron-deficiency anemia, clotting abnormalities, hemophilia, and sickle-cell disease.

Recognized as a Top Doctor by Phoenix Magazine and a Super Doctor in Phoenix, Dr. Roberts has been the recipient of the Teaching Excellence Award from St. Joseph’s Hospital & Medical Center, and has received numerous other nationally recognized physician awards.
