Dr. David M. Johnson completed his Doctorate of Optometry at the University of Houston in 2008. During his training, he spent two years of his clinical training in Neuro-Ophthalmology, and his last year in training with two doctors in Dallas, TX that are considered by their colleagues as pioneers in corneal, cataract, and refractive surgery.

After graduation, he was licensed by Texas Optometry Board in July 2008 as a Therapeutic Optometric Glaucoma Specialist, and served as Clinical/Surgery Director with one of the largest Optometry and Ophthalmology providers in the state of Texas, as well as the exclusive eyecare provider of Johnson Space Center(NASA). While serving in this role, he provided comprehensive patient care specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of ocular diseases, contact lenses, laser refractive surgery consultation (LASIK, PRK), cataract surgery consultation, and corneal transplant post-operative care.

Dr. Johnson has also served as an adjunct professor in which he helped train interns in their final year of training from the University of Houston College of Optometry. He also trained ophthalmology residents from The University of Texas Medical Branch Galveston as they learned to perform LASIK and PRK surgery. During his tenure in this position, he also served as a clinical investigator for various ocular pharmaceuticals seeking approval by the FDA.

Dr. Johnson currently practices next door to Ragsdale & Martin Optical in Tyler, TX.

Severe eye pain and blurriness?
It would be my recommendation that you see an Optometrist or an Ophthalmologist. Foreign bodies can easily penetrate the surface of the eye and become trapped within the cornea. The pain/redness/swelling are likely the effects of your body's immune system fighting what it recognizes as foreign. READ MORE
What could be the cause of my hazy vision?
There are a number of things that could cause hazy vision. Based on the fact that it is more prominent in the morning, it is likely related to your eyes being dry. Allergies can cause this also, but would likely persist throughout the day. Cataracts can also cause visual symptoms that you are describing also, but your symptoms would persist throughout the day as well. Do specs with glare protection really work?
Yes, glare protection does work. However, if your prescription is not accurate for what you need this can pose a problem and lead to headaches. Also, if you are experiencing early signs of presbyopia (need for reading glasses) for tasks at near or within arms length, this can also lead to headaches. Best regards, Dr. David Johnson READ MORE
I am have hazy vision in the mornings. Could it be due to my blood pressure?
This could be related to blood pressure, but is more likely a problem related to dry eyes. With a comprehensive eye examination, this can most likely be determined as the reason for the hazy vision. Dr. David Johnson READ MORE
I had corrective eye surgery, but I still can't read without glasses. Is something wrong?
It is likely that your correction was done as distance correction for both eyes, or your non-dominant eye was overtreated, that is assuming you are over 40 years old. I typically always recommend a trial contact lens for each eye for 3-5 days to simulate the way the surgery goals will be treated. I am sorry you are having issues. Can blood pressure medicines cause blurred vision?
The medication can cause this type of symptom. However, it is always recommended that you have a comprehensive eye examination if this type of issue arises because it is possible that your medications and/or dosage needs to be adjusted. Is there a cure for color blindness?
Unfortunately, there is not a cure for this condition. However, there are some options to help a person with this condition (contact lenses, typically). My mother is unable to see clearly even after the corrective eye surgery. What should I do now?

Why is my vision blurry only sometimes?
This is typically due to the eyes drying excessively. However, some systemic diseases such as diabetes can cause this as well. READ MORE

As a specialist in dealing with dry eyes, I come across this question frequently. Typically, because of extended computer use, the human eye does not blink as it should due to the amount of concentration when doing this type of work. Is steam bath bad for eyes?
