Get to know Cardiologist Dr. David C. Wolford, who serves patients in Germantown, Tennessee.

In practice since 1989, Dr. Wolford is an experienced invasive interventional cardiologist at Stern Cardiovascular in Germantown, Tennessee. He is interested in procedures within interventional cardiology including cardiac catheterization, angioplasty, and stent placement.

For 100 years, Stern Cardiovascular has focused on physician/patient relationships, progressive medical technology, and comprehensive treatment. It is the largest cardiovascular research and healthcare group in Tennessee, Arkansas, and Mississippi. It provides state-of-the-art diagnostics and treatment of all aspects of cardiovascular disease including hypertension, coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, cardiac valve disorders (including mitral valve prolapse), myocardial infarction, cardiac hyperlipidemia, arteriosclerosis, and atherosclerosis.

Back in 1984, Dr. Wolford graduated with his Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Arts from East Tennessee State University. He then went on to earn his medical degree from the University Tennessee College of Medicine in 1989.

Furthering his training, he performed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Tennessee at Memphis. He then pursued fellowships in cardiology and interventional cardiology at the University of Tennessee at Memphis in 1995 and 1996, respectively. 

With years of experience, Dr. Wolford is board-certified in interventional cardiology, cardiovascular disease, and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Board-certified through the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology, he is a member of the Tennessee Medical Association, the American College of Cardiology (Fellow), and the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology.

Licensed to practice medicine in Tennessee, Dr. Wolford is affiliated with Baptist Memorial Hospital for Women, Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis, Memphis Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Methodist Le Bonheur Germantown Hospital, Methodist Hospitals of Memphis, and St. Francis Hospital-Memphis.

Cardiology is a branch of medicine that deals with the disorders of the heart, as well as the circulatory system. The field includes medical diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, and electrophysiology. Cardiologists are doctors who diagnose, assess, and treat patients with diseases and defects of the heart and blood vessels (the cardiovascular system).

Among his philanthropic endeavours, Dr. Wolford is associated with Hands and Feet Project – Haiti & Place of Hope – Haiti.
