Dr. Sutter received his medical degree in 1997 at Jefferson Medical College, now the Sidney Kimmel Medical College, at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA. After an internship spent at the National Naval Medical Center, now Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, in Bethesda, Maryland, Dr. Sutter completed a residency in emergency medicine at the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine and LAC+USC Medical Center (2001 – 2004). Prior to medical school, Dr. Sutter acquired a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology at the University of California Davis in 1992.
Subsequent to his training, Dr. Sutter became board certified (2005) and recertified (2016) in emergency medicine with the American Board of Emergency Medicine. ABEM is one of 24 medical specialty certification boards recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties. ABEM certifies emergency physicians who meet its educational, professional, and examination standards.
