He then attended the University of Toledo College of Medicine, where he received a Master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences and a Doctorate of Medicine. He subsequently completed his residency in internal medicine and his fellowship in gastroenterology at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, and was selected to serve as chief resident and chief fellow.

A leader in his field, he is board-certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Among his professional affiliations, Dr. Gay is an active member of the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterological Association, and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
