Get to know Chiropractor Dr. Abraham H. Grosswasser, who serves patients in Los Angeles, California.
A highly motivated practitioner in the field of chiropractic, Dr. Grosswasser has more than twenty years experience treating and diagnosing disorders of the spine and other body joints. He is the Clinic Director of ProHealth Physical Medicine in Studio City, Los Angeles, California.
The experienced group of providers at ProHealth Physical Medicine includes a medical doctor, nurse practitioner, physical rehab specialist, and acupuncturist, as well as chiropractors and massage therapists. The tight-knit, cohesive team takes a whole-person approach to health and wellness, operating from the philosophy that quality medical care goes far deeper than simply soothing a patient’s symptoms. Using integrative medicine based on natural pain solutions, the team at ProHealth Physical Medicine offers a broad range of convenient, on-site services, including: chiropractic care, massage therapy, chronic pain solutions, headache and migraine relief, injury rehabilitation, platelet rich plasma therapy, posture screening and correction, spinal decompression therapy, cold laser therapy, trigger point injections, joint injection therapy, medical weight loss, and Vitamin B12 injections.
At 13 years of age, Dr. Grosswasser suffered a fracture of the spine. His family was told that surgery would be required and that a long (Harrington) rod would be surgically implanted from the base of the neck, to the lower back. In an attempt to avoid surgery, his family sought treatment with a chiropractor. Dr. Grosswasser was able to avoid the surgery and the impact the chiropractic treatment had on his life was huge. He set himself on a course to have that same impact on the world.
Through an accelerated undergraduate program, Dr. Grosswasser was able to complete his pre-chiropractic credits in just two years. He attended Logan College of Chiropractic, graduating and receiving his Doctor of Chiropractic degree in April of 2000. After graduation, he moved to southern Italy to begin his career with busy offices in Naples and in Messina, Sicily. He performed over 90,000 treatments in three years, while working in Italy. He learned to speak Italian and developed a passion for European football.
Combining his education and the vast experiences of his time in Italy, Dr. Grosswasser practiced next in Boston, Massachusstts. Working with the President of the American Spinal Decompression Association, he concentrated his energies/studies on the rehabilitation of painful disc conditions, debilitating degenerative joint disease, and soft tissue injuries. Wanting to combine his passions for rehabilitative care, sports medicine and to be nearer to his family, he relocated to southern California.
Chiropractic is a form of alternative medicine that mainly deals with the diagnosis and treatment of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system, especially the spine. A chiropractor uses spinal adjustments, manipulation, and other techniques to manage patients’ health concerns, including neck pain, back pain, headaches, vertigo and a long list of other ailments and conditions. They aim to improve patients’ functionality and quality of life by properly aligning the body’s musculoskeletal structure and enabling the body to heal itself naturally, without the use of medication or surgery.
Outside of the office, Dr. Grosswasser spends his free time traveling, hiking, camping with his wife and child, exercising, playing the upright bass in groups around town, and caring for his three dogs. He also attends seminars on numerous subjects to better serve his patients.
