An exceptional hair transplant specialist, Dr. Puig works with patients at his private practice – Physicians’ Hair Restoration Center – in Houston, Texas. He has had a special interest in Continuous Quality Improvement and the application of Six Sigma Principles to Hair Restoration Surgery for 48 years. He has studied with Dr. W. Edwards Deming and other authorities on this topic.
Physicians’ Hair Restoration Center has worked continuously to develop hair loss techniques and quality control to enhance patients’ natural appearance through the use of hair restoration surgery. The doctor realizes that this hair will grow for the rest of their life and has been extremely careful in not only choosing people, but also training hair transplant specialists who are technically adept, and artistically gifted.
Before embarking on his professional journey, Dr. Puig graduated from Miami Edison Senior High School in 1964 and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture from the University of Florida in 1968. He graduated with his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1972, and completed a rotating internship at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in 1973.
Passionate about his profession, the doctor is a Diplomate and Past President of the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery, which is the only certifying organization for hair transplant doctors worldwide. In addition, he is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support.
Achieving fellowship status, Dr. Puig is a Fellow and founding member of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (FISHRS), and Fellow of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (FAACS). He is an active member of the American Society of Hair Restoration Surgery, the American Hair Loss Council, the American Osteopathic Association, the Texas Osteopathic Association, and the American Medical Association.
Over the years, he has trained many hair transplant surgeons in hair restoration surgery, both in his internationally recognized Fellowship Training Program and at medical seminars, workshops, and surgical demonstrations on a range of topics, including: female hair restoration, complex hair transplant case management, professional marketing of hair transplantation, professional ethics emergency preparedness in hair transplant surgery practice, hair restoration surgery office design, hair restoration surgery team management, complication management, and hair transplant fellowship instructor training. In 2012, he was given the Golden Follicle Award in recognition of a lifetime of professional contributions.
